How did you get into direct response fundraising?

I was working in sports marketing actually and when my life just didn’t seem fulfilled, New River came knocking. New River provided me with the opportunity to excel in the marketing industry – but marketing something that mattered to me. The work we do with nonprofits is quite remarkable and being involved in just a smidgen of the change our clients make in the world is truly extraordinary.

What’s the best part of your job?

The opportunity to work with nonprofits with so many great causes across the country and internationally. The opportunity to be creative, strategic, and competitive all at the same time. And of course, our New River team makes every day at work rewarding and fun.

Worst part of your job?

The most challenging part would be when you are on the verge of making a huge impact and something out there in the universe messes it up… whether it be a delayed mail date, a decision made by Congress, or an overall negative public opinion about a topic. So much work goes into creating each campaign, but so much can go awry in a short period of time. We have to stay on our toes!.

Your favorite escape from the job?

The sun, water, and good music together with friends and my yorkie, Phin.
